First Impressions
You should have a chance to form first impressions of a book before someone tells you what you should see. The best way to do this is to read John’s gospel through, in one sitting if possible. Read quickly for an overall view, not stopping to ponder the details

The Word ( John 1:1-18)
The Greek word Logos basically means the reason or thought within a person or the expression of his thought in speech. To a Jew, the Logos was the Word by which God spoke the universe into existence (Genesis 1:3, 6, 9; Psalm 33:6), by which He guided the prophets (Amos 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 13), by which He delivered His people (Psalm 107:19–20), and by which He accomplished His will (Isaiah 55:11).

Testimony (1:6-8, 19-34)
Even decades after his death, disciples of his could be found in cities as far away as Ephesus (Acts 18:24–25; 19:1–7). He was much more unanimously acclaimed and long remembered by the Jews than Jesus was.
